The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course prepares students for further study in an academic setting. This academic setting may be in foundation studies programs, Universities or other tertiary education institutions. The course integrates the four macro skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing as well as grammar, vocabulary and critical thinking. The course is divided into themes relevant to a variety of higher education courses and exposed to materials and tasks similar to those they will find in English-medium higher education institutions. The classes seek to give students an understanding of academic culture in English speaking institutions, but also recognises that students may have a range of learning styles which need to be catered for using a variety of teaching methods.
